“Let the soft animal of your body love what it loves”
Within the depths of our human experience, there is a thread of connection to something greater, something transcendent. As I sifted through the remnants of past writings, I came upon a piece of free-flow prose that came to me as a kind of meditation. It began with two sentences: A meditation to dig into our innate being. A way of embracing and merging with Source.
It felt right to share but I struggled with bringing its ethereal essence into tangible understanding. While it came to me in a divine way, and I resonate with its meaning it is still aloof, hard to take in and make clear. It needed another layer – a broader perspective to make it accessible – even to myself.
This struggle led me to realize that clarity often emerges not through forceful deliberation, but through surrender and openness to the everyday facets of life like movies, songs, poetry, an idea, or images. Often just exercising: moving, hiking, or being on the treadmill slows down the frustration of struggling – tying up my mind in a way that allows for new – more expanded understanding to come through. Each experience offers a lens through which we can discern the interconnectedness of all things.
To begin I’d like to share some of what came through almost a year ago:
When we find ourselves and the place on earth facing away from the sun, we think the Light has gone. The earth therefore like our humanness believes that we are separate – following a daily and seasonal path of the sun being fixed in space and time. Yet that is only perspective. We are never left in the dark. The Light has never diminished, never left us, and will always shine on and within us.
