Honoring Your Light in the Darkest Hour

To be honest I struggled this week with what to share. I had inspired ideas and topics arise but as I began to write – my words were overtaken by the strain of current events happening in the world, and the tense times of stress and division in the U.S. with mid-term elections on the horizon. Anything I might say that did not address current events felt like it would be a passive and blind offering, and shallow in response to the depth of violence, divisiveness, and intolerance currently on display. However, I am not willing to bow to fear, to allow darkness to shade the light and love that is here within and without. It only emboldens me to come closer to the truth and know the love that I am, and continue to learn how to embrace the love in another even when triggered in response to what is happening. These are the times that call for courage, and resilience, allowing and continuing to come closer to oneself, to breathe in and out, and to find ease and peace in this Now moment.

We can become caught up in the minutia of chaos and forms of darkness and dis-ease swirling around us at times. It is harder to rest in the light and truth of who we are when the tempests of war, isms, inequality, loss of rights and freedoms, unchecked lies and conspiracy theories, senseless violence, and hate are raging outside our doors. These are intense times and they no doubt tests our strength and will. We are pushed closer to the darkness and our ability to hold the deep truth of Love’s presence in ourselves and in these unsettling times is challenged. We can become flooded with decisions and votes to make, new or old roads to take or not, and choices in handling life in the midst of it all.

I will love the light for it shows me the way, yet I will endure the darkness for it shows me the stars.
