Pausing To Cherish Yourself
Can you stop for a moment? Pause and breathe. Stop to notice your breath and how it anchors you in this moment and breathes you without conditions or judgment. Stop to notice your space of being – your being as love, and as an essential part of the whole and connected universe. Stop to notice that there is no distance between you and love – love and you. There is only peace here - in this alive and quiet opening – offered to bring you closer to your being, your heart, breath, and truth in this moment. Peace enough for Now, for this hour, day, week, month, year, and for your life. Take in this morsel of respite and feel its weight – its depth and magnitude. Your worthiness and limitless being stopping to notice life itself – the quiet and calm that surrounds you and infuses you. This mystery that never leaves you and honors your pause – honors your noticing of what is HereNow with peace and gratitude. Note this as the space of Love itself – of grace and your infinite capacity to merge with all of it, to feel your belonging, to connect to everything that is, and release any feelings of separateness… if only for a moment.
Stay in this moment and relish that truth sweet one. Breathe in the limitless nature of this moment – the boundless space of Now and what is happening Here.
See this moment – what is happening around you?
Hear this moment – what is revealing itself to you?
Feel this moment – what sensations are arising within you?
Be in this moment and move to the sights, sounds, and sensations, and embrace, accept, and allow all of it to be just as it is, and then let it all go. Let descriptors, labels, judgments, thoughts, and stories about what is arising HereNow go easily and effortlessly.
Say to yourself, I love you [insert your name]. Repeat this to yourself before you go to bed and as you wake in the morning – as you would say to your child or a loved one. Feel the love that is here for you and the love that you have for yourself, if even for a moment. The one that has been with you since the beginning. Befriend the one that has stood by you, been a witness to your life and all its events and happenings, ups and downs, wins and losses, and sought to protect guide, and help you find your next step and solid footing. Feel gratitude for the one that has walked beside you your whole life and will never leave you.
The wonderful poet, Tanya Markul offers a beautiful poem on self-love:
self-love
is a home
within me
that allows
every emotion
to express, exist,
to come and go
like four
walls,
a high ceiling,
and wooden floors,
rooms, windows,
a table, and door.
feelings come and go
but love never leaves.
